Free Airplane Rides for Kids Ages 8-17!

    Young Eagles

The EAA Young Eagles program was launched in 1992 to give interested young people, ages 8 - 17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers. Our hope is that by going up for this free FIRST airplane ride, they will want to take further steps to learn about aviation.

Additional Young Eagle rides are available to kids who have demonstrated an above average interest in aviation to our Young Eagle Coordinators and are also dependent on our having the necessary resources to offer those rides. Our top priority is to give first timers their Young Eagle rides.

CLICK HERE to visit our web page that discusses ways the Young Eagle can demonstrate their above average interest in aviation.

Kids that have gone up for their free FIRST introductory Young Eagle airplane ride will receive a Young Eagle Flight certificate and their own personal Young Eagle Flight Log book. They will also receive an activation code that will permit those 13 and older to take an online "Learn To Fly Course" offered FREE by Sporty's Pilot Shop. They can also contact us about additional steps they can take to further their interest in aviation.

Since 1992, about 1.8 million Young Eagles have enjoyed a flight through the program. Young Eagles have been registered in more than 90 different countries and have been flown by nearly 40,000 volunteer pilots.

EAA Chapter 44 participates in Young Eagle events and have flown over 2,000 kids since 1992.

You might also want to check our EAA Chapter 44 CALENDAR to determine when we have scheduled future Young Eagle events.
